Associate Marga and Walter Boll-Professorship in Cardio-Oncological Epidemiology (W2) with tenure track (W2) (f/m/d)

The University of Cologne is one of the oldest and largest universities in Germany. With its six Faculties covering a broad spectrum of disciplines and its internationally outstanding research profile areas, it enjoys an excellent reputation for its academic achievements and high standards of undergraduate and graduate education.

YOUR TASKS

The professorship involves responsibility for clinical epidemiology in the field of cardio-oncology research. Other tasks include teaching medical students and participating in the master‘s program in healthcare management. With this professorship, the Faculty of Medicine aims to further strengthen the field of cardio-oncology research on campus. In addition to the working groups already active in basic science and clinical research in cardiovascular medicine and oncology,

this interdisciplinary field is to be further consolidated and expanded through epidemiological research. This offers the newly appointed professor the opportunity to develop and implement innovative and forward-looking interdisciplinary concepts throughout Germany on the basis of existing, proven structures.

YOUR PROFILE

The position is aimed at individuals with a strong track record in clinical epidemiology and expertise in either cardiovascular or oncological research questions. We are seeking experts with practical experience in the design and implementation of cohort studies. A high level of commitment to strengthening the close interaction between both disciplines for epidemiological research is expected. Applicants should have a record of high-quality, relevant publications in internationally recognized journals, successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding as a principal investigator, and proven experience in epidemiological research projects. Experience in personnel management as well as in collaboration with various clinical departments is also desired. Applicants are furthermore expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching in medical education and to actively contribute to the development of the Cologne Model Curriculum in Medicine as well as other study programs and graduate programs in which the Faculty of Medicine participates (e.g., IPMM).

A habilitation or equivalent academic achievement is required.

Close collaboration with the local Max Planck Institutes for Biology of Ageing and for Metabolism Research, with the clinics and institutes of University Hospital Cologne, with relevant research networks of the University of Cologne (e.g., CECAD), and with the cross-faculty area “Health, Human Being, Society” is also expected.

OUR OFFER
